Generally credited with being one of alternative music’s founding guitarists, Billy Duffy is most widely known as a member of the influential and enduring rock band The Cult.

Billy Duffy picked up the guitar in Manchester in 1975, then only fourteen, and proceeded to fuck around with various punk lineups throughout the 70s. Eventually, Duffy met fellow Cultist Ian Astbury, forming The Cult out of the ashes of Astbury’s previous group Southern Death Cult.

Throughout The Cult’s long years of musical adaptation and progression, Duffy himself remained a sub-cultural driving force behind the spirit of alternative music. His choice of guitar – the Gretsch White Falcon – and unique sound continues to influence new generations of guitarists.
